Adventure Inc. began on January 31, 2020 at Cre8 Studios Upstairs in Saint Albans, WV with the intent of playing out 5e sessions of Dragon of Icespire Peak. The inaugural session, a meet and greet where a general overview was given and character sheets were rolled, attracted about 17 players. Pleased with their devotion, Moriarty set his servant Tony Breeden to design a homebrew campaign which might hold the interest of such a large group, comprised of both adults and teens, new players and veterans.

The first real campaign session was held on February 21, 2020 at Cre8 Studios. Three teams awoke in the Temple of Wanjo and players found they were playing different characters than the ones they’d rolled. The next two sessions were also held at Cre8 Studios and continued the adventures.

As some players died, they found they’d been using “husks” and that they could play their original characters at the behest of the capricious deities who recruited them. The heroic bard Hero and the chaotic Moriarty were among the first to introduce themselves.

The 4th session, billed as “Friday the 13th session! Who will survive?” was ultimately cancelled by the COVID pandemic. Reorganizing quickly, sessions were held online via Zoom beginning on March 21, 2020.

On April 17, the group was renamed Adventure Inc and the Deus Portas campaign worlds were first mentioned. Less formally, it’s just called The Seven Worlds.

On May 1, 2021, we finally returned to in-person gaming for Session #29 with a hybrid session taking place both on Zoom and at Counterbalance Cards & Games in Saint Albans, WV.

In-person players were asked to bring a canned or dry food item to help stock the Blessing Box on the Loop in Saint Albans, a tradition of giving back to the community that continues.

But of course that’s just a recounting of the history of the players who’ve been experiencing these homebrew sessions firsthand. There’s so much more to share about the Seven Worlds of Deus Portas.
